The proper way to introduce dogs

This is the proper way to introduce dogs. Make sure the handler is confident and capable and then do a hand off (do not let them get in each others butts or ESPECIALLY each others faces!) and then take a STRUCTURED walk. This way each dog gets to “meet” the other one without confrontation – they are definitely smelling and hearing each other and are very aware of each other.
If you go on a really long STRUCTURED walk then chances are (with most dogs), they won’t even try to sniff butts when taken out of a structured heel or let off leash – they have already met!
This is such a great way to avoid explosive greetings that both of these dogs usually do if left face to face on tight leashes.

Let’s Celebrate National Dog Day This August 26th

Dogs put their hearts out for us on a daily basis, they work selflessly to keep us safe and bring us unconditional love and comfort. So why shouldn’t they get their own special Day. On August 26th we will celebrate National Dog Day. Founded in 2004 by Pet & Family Lifestyle Expert and Animal Advocate Colleen Paige National Dog Day celebrates all dogs, mixed breeds and pure bred, puppies and seniors. The mission is to help galvanize the public to recognize the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year and acknowledges family dogs and dogs that work selflessly each day to save lives, keep us safe and bring comfort.

How to End Destructive Chewing

It can be demoralizing to come home to a coffee table that used to have four legs, a sofa that is now inside out and your kid’s favorite teddy bear is now an amputee. Here are some simple things you can do to curb this behavior.

Information on Hunting Dog Products

Hunting dogs have to be taught how to obey commands and point, retrieve, or flush out prey. They require specialized training in order to be able to give the handler the necessary support during hunting. Using the right hunting dog products to train your dog will make the process much easier for you (the handler) and your dog.

Keeping Pets Cool in the Summer Heat

As the temperatures soared last week, so did cases of dogs left in hot cars and one poor dog was left to fry on the hottest day of the year! The RSPCA and other animal welfare charities only recently launched a campaign to highlight the dangers and despite warnings they are still being left!
